On the 26th of January, I was lucky enough to be offered a place in a team of 10 makeup artists to work on the Ed Sheeran x Bring Me The Horizon opening performance for the Brit Awards 2022!

I secured this opportunity following a 2 week internship in August at Fabulous magazine in London. Whist I was assisting on a photoshoot, I got chatting to the lovely Aimee Adams who was the makeup artist working on the shoot.  

We chatted about all sorts and instantly clicked, so I showed her my makeup Instagram page showcasing my work and she loved and followed immediately! Fast forward to January when Aimee very kindly offered me the opportunity to work on the Brits with her and of course I instantly said YES!

Whilst at the Brits, I designed the makeup for three of the dancers performing in the opening act and three of the orchestra for the following solo Ed Sheeran performance. Prior to the makeup, we were briefed by Liberty Shaw who is Ed Sheeran’s personal makeup artist. The key touch points we were tasked with referencing were Courtney Love, 80’s New York, Early Punk, New Romantics, Gothic and Grunge. We began the makeup at 9:30am and had until the start of the show to complete all 45 dancers including touch ups and final checks. Everyone was over the moon with the final performance and it was definitely surreal to see my own work on TV!

The Brits was an experience of a life time and one that I am incredibly grateful to Aimee Adams for offering me.

I made some amazing contacts with talented artists who I hope to be lucky enough to work with again in the future.
